THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates a large portion of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate and estate administration along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who want to stay clear of the litigation and court process.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.

Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. This experience helped her to develop a deeper understanding of the local legal scene. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
