Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property and child custody battles. child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and legal research.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned beyond her legal practice as she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce child support, custody and guardianships, as well in estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide a customized approach to each client's needs.
